Christmas.
We celebrate Christmas on the 24 of December, we get
presents in the evening. They are put under a dressed tree. We eat a lot of marzipan,
pork and Riz à l'amande with cherry sauce. We make marzipan sculptures 2
weeks before Christmas and then we eat them on Christmas Eve.
Fastelavn
We dress up in weird costumes and hit a barrel with
candy, in old days there was a black cat in the barrel. Then we beated the cat to death. It was always a black cat, because we thought that black cats meant bad
luck. We also eat a special sort of Danishes.
Sankt Hans.
On Sankt Hans we burn bitches so they can go to Bloksbjerg! And sing
around a burning woman! Its not a burning woman anymore it’s a dog. Bloksbjerg
is a place where all the witches meet and talk about witch stuff.

Fin præsentation af danske traditioner I har lavet. Jeg savner dog lidt billeder!
SvarSletHey, I had never heard about these things, except christmas ofcourse.
SvarSletWe also have that in Belgium and like you we also celebrate it on the 24th with presents. But we also celebrate it on the 25th with a big dinner and family.
Another tradition we have is 'Sinterklaas'. This is on the 6th of december. On the night of the 5th till the 6th of december saint nicolas comes into your house and puts loads of presents and sweets on the table. So the kids love it when they get up. This sounds probably weird but I'm sure you can find more info on the internet, if interested.
This tradition is mostly for kids till around 12 years old and for them it is bigger than Christmas is.
Another tradition we have at easter is that the kids go searching for chocolate eggs in the garden, in the morning before breakfast. They think the easterbunny putted them their. And after that we have a easterbreakfast with the chocolate and little breads.
We have more traditions, but now you know a little bit :)
Greetings from Belgium, Lander.
I'm assuming on Sankt Hans you burn witches not bitches. This is all really interesting. Here Christmas is on the 25th of December. We usually spend it outside by the water. Fastelavn sounds like Halloween, except we don't murder cats.
SvarSletFrom Australia XXXXXX
There are also Turkish feasts, sacrifices and festivals of RamadanSacrifice: plenty of meat to eat, Kissable hands of the elderly and adults.
SvarSlet(a Turkish tradition kissed the hands of adults)
We don't kill cats anymore, now we put candy in the barrels.
